Warden arrested on suspicion of stealing Rolex and money from WWII vet

A guard has been arrested on suspicion of stealing a Rolex watch and cash from a 97-year-old World War II veteran in Apple Valley, authorities said Monday.

Jessica Steiner, 38, of Hesperia, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stealing more than $950 from an elder, sheriff’s officials said.

She was booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto and was cited and released the next day, according to sheriff’s booking records.

The San Bernardino County Superior Court system showed no court appearances for Steiner on Monday.

The Apple Valley Sheriff’s Station reported that around 12:29 p.m. Thursday, a sheriff’s department specialist responded to a robbery at a home in the 11000 block of Oak Street.

The address is in the Jess Ranch senior community, located south of Town Center Drive and west of Apple Valley Road.

Upon arrival, the veteran’s wife told the sheriff’s specialist that $200 in cash was stolen along with her husband’s Rolex watch, which he was seen wearing on Wednesday. The department did not name the vetera

The specialist conducted an investigation and identified the suspect as Warden Steiner, according to the sheriff’s report.

At around 2:40 p.m. Thursday, a deputy located Steiner at her home in the 9200 block of Wasco Avenue in Hesperia, where he retrieved the watch and discovered the money had already been spent by the caregiver, the Department of Health said. sheriff.
