Tres Mundos Hostel

Best hostel for: Budget backpackers looking for a relaxed atmosphere

Dormitory price (avg): $ 12 USD / night
Private room (avg): $ 35 USD / night

After checking out all of the popular Playa del Carmen hostels for the end of 2021, we noticed that some of the pillars are open but undergoing renovations and not as user-friendly as in previous years.

Tres Mundos Hostel is probably one of the cheapest options in town and still caters for backpackers. The hostel has a nice common area and a communal kitchen on the ground floor, with decent Wi-Fi if you want to work. There are also some great cocktails for 50 pesos for happy hour.

This hostel isn’t the cleanest and the lighting is a bit dim throughout the property, but it’s a good budget option for a few nights while you’re heading to Playa del Carmen. The kitchen and common areas are well maintained and potable water is provided. It’s right next to a great restaurant and cafe, so it’s worth visiting this area.
