IndiaCast Continues Legal Speech Against Roaming Operators, Marketing & Advertising News, AND BrandEquity

IndiaCast is pursuing a legal discourse against roaming operators.

IndiaCast, through its anti-piracy agency Kamakhya, has registered four FIRs in different police stations against the owners of Narnaul Cable Services and Faulad Cable, including their operators located in the Bhivadi regions of Rajasthan.

IndiaCast – the multi-platform content asset monetization entity jointly owned by TV18 Broadcast Limited and Viacom18 Media Private Limited has filed a complaint for illegal and unauthorized broadcasting of TV18 and Viacom18 channels in these areas. The complaints were made under the Copyright Act of 1957 and the Indian Penal Code of 1860.

Police authorities responded to the complaint and conducted several raids on various locations. Police seized equipment such as transmitters and nodes used in the retransmission of signals from various channels in areas not authorized for public consumption. Following the complaint, the police have already arrested four defendants in this case. The defendants were refused release on bail and were placed in judicial detention for 5 days.

Pirated content is a growing concern for the media industry as it directly affects not only the revenues of broadcasters but also devalues ​​the work done by the entire content supply chain. IndiaCast, Viacom18 and the TV18 network will continue to fight market threats associated with piracy and protect their channel content using all available legal methods.

Recently, Viacom18 had recorded an FIR against Thop TV in the Cyber ​​Cell in Maharashtra State. Thop TV would allegedly offer pirated shows and OTT content to millions of online viewers at discounted prices, resulting in a substantial loss of revenue for the network. Maharashtra Cyber ​​Cell proactively acted on FIR and arrested the founder and CEO of Thop TV.
