NEVILLE Hotels, on behalf of Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort, has requested retention and permission to provide staff accommodation in existing buildings on the site.
The planning application submitted to Wicklow County Council seeks permission for proposed internal changes to the ground floor to create five bedrooms, including bathrooms, for staff accommodation and change of use a cloakroom; and for the indefinite retention of internal alterations as built on the first floor to create eight bedrooms for the purpose of staff accommodation and change of use to a conference room at Woodstock House.
The resort has struggled to recruit hotel staff after it reopened following the prolonged lockdown period due to Covid.
Staff were eventually recruited from overseas through a recruitment agency, and part of the relocation program was to provide staff with local accommodation. This had to be provided at very short notice to enable the reopening of Druids Glen Hotel and Golf Resort.
The application requests retention permission for the accommodation provided in the first floor conference room of the Woodstock House clubhouse, while additional accommodation is sought for the ground floor golf locker rooms in the same zoned.
A planning decision is due by March 10.
