Cross-border workers who are still without electricity are invited to find âalternative accommodationâ for this evening.
The Scottish Borders Council says around 6,500 people have been affected.
And that said many could face another night without electricity.
A spokesperson said: âFrom conversations with Scottish Power Energy Networks, it is evident that the majority of the 6,500 homes currently without electricity will not be supplied until tonight at the earliest.
âMany homes could face another night without electricity.
“With another cold night expected, we therefore urge those currently without electricity to find alternative accommodation, for example with friends or family, due to uncertainty over the timing of restoring supplies.
âAnyone with welfare issues or unable to find alternative accommodation should call the emergency number outside of business hours 01896 752111 so that appropriate assistance can be provided by the council or partners.
âResilient community groups have been contacted and invited to help where possible, however, in these exceptional circumstances, we are also asking people to check on vulnerable neighbors.
âGiven the current situation and the uncertainty regarding the duration of the current incident, we are putting in place arrangements to mobilize additional support for the affected communities. ”
