TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) earned Rs 4 crore within hours of opening the online booking of accommodation available on Tirumala Hill. Worshipers have reserved 43,000 rooms after the temple administration posted the online accommodation quota for November and December on its official website on Monday.
Officials said TTD only allowed online booking of accommodation to those who purchased Rs300 special-entry darshan tickets or booked slot darshan tickets (free darva).
“We have started booking rooms online for the first time to prevent the rental housing black market and reduce unnecessary queues,” observed a senior official. We learn that TTD is sending reminders to worshipers, who have already booked darshan tickets, to take advantage of the remaining 7,400 rooms in case they need accommodation.
Meanwhile, TTD’s shift from online ticketing to cloud-based technology proposed by Jio appears to be working well for the temple body. Problems that bothered worshipers visiting the official devasthanam site have become a thing of the past.
TTD earned Rs 21 crore last Friday when it released 7.08 lakh Rs 300 special entry tickets for darshan in November and December. On Saturday, worshipers across the country booked about three Lakh Darshan tickets in just 19 minutes.
